Cello – Secretary
Pannon Portrait
Cellist and secretary of the Hungarian Royal Gypsy Orchestra. She has played the cello since the age of six and also plays the piano and flute. She has been a member of the ensemble almost since its foundation.
Career
Kiss Zsuzsanna was born in Sopron in 1973 and has lived there with her family ever since. She began her musical education at the age of six, with the cello becoming her principal instrument. She also plays the piano and flute.
Throughout her musical career, she has performed with various orchestras and ensembles. In recent years, however, her musical life has become increasingly closely connected with the Pannon Cigányzenekar – the Hungarian Royal Gypsy Orchestra. She has been part of the orchestra almost since its foundation and has therefore shared in nearly the entire two-decade history of the ensemble, not only as a musician but also as a long-standing member of its community.
Her contribution, however, extends far beyond the stage. As the orchestra’s secretary, she plays an active role in its day-to-day organisation and takes care of many of the essential tasks behind the scenes that help such a large ensemble operate smoothly. Zsuzsanna is therefore both a member of the orchestra’s musical community and an important organisational pillar of the Hungarian Royal Gypsy Orchestra.
With the Pannon Orchestra
Kiss Zsuzsanna has been part of the Pannon Cigányzenekar almost since its foundation. As a cellist, she performs with the orchestra on stage, while as its secretary she also supports the ensemble’s organisation and day-to-day activities.
Something Few People Know About Me
Although I am best known in Pannon as a cellist, the cello is not my only instrument: I also play the piano and flute. And for me, life with the orchestra does not end with the final note – as its secretary, I also work behind the scenes to help ensure that everything falls into place.
