Career

Gyula Váradi began studying the violin at the age of seven at the Tóth Aladár Music School in Budapest, where he studied under Éva Ácsné Szily. His exceptional talent became evident at an early age: at thirteen, he was admitted to the Special School for Exceptional Young Talents of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.

As a young violinist, he successfully participated in numerous national and international violin competitions, winning several first prizes. An important milestone in his career came in 2016, when he won the “Adults” age category of Virtuózok, Hungary’s classical music talent show, earning a place in the live grand final.

His success on Virtuózok opened the door to further major performance opportunities. In August 2016, he performed at the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena under the baton of Plácido Domingo. In November of the same year, he had another opportunity to perform with the world-renowned artist in New York.

Since then, Gyula Váradi has appeared in numerous concert halls across Europe and America. His playing brings together his strong classical training and the traditions of Hungarian Roma music. As a member of the Pannon Cigányzenekar, he performs in the orchestra’s first violin section.
